Moriches Elementary School recently celebrated W.A.R.M. Week – an acronym for “We Are Reading More,” – which serves as an annual, schoolwide celebration of reading and literacy! This year’s theme was “Reading Through the U.S.A.” featuring a week full of thematic dress-up days, mystery riddles and readers to engage Moriches students in their love for literacy!

The week was highlighted by the celebration of Literacy Night, an evening event attended by more than 200 families, who enjoyed free books, refreshments, raffles, teacher-led read-alouds and a live band made up of Moriches faculty! Additionally, non-perishable food items were collected at the door for an extra raffle ticket that gave all of the participating donors a chance to win a book basket! The collected food items were donated to the local food pantry for those in need from our community.
It was yet another successful and fun-filled W.A.R.M. Week for all of the Moriches faculty and students!
Community members enjoyed free books and live performances at Literacy Night!
