Homemade stevia extract

Liquid Stevia extract is a relatively easy tincture at home. In addition, it is a cheaper option for purchased versions of the store! We like the homemade Stevia extract to sweeten smoothies and cheesecake, but it also tastes good about coffee or sweet tea!
If you grow your own stevia, you can keep fresh magazines to make the most effective extract. This is my Stevia base recipe and is suitable for children and pregnant women after alcohol chefs.
I get a dried stevia leaf here in bulk or you can keep your own.
What is stevia and how to use it
The clean stevia (Stevia Rebaudiana) has a sweet taste and is a sugar -free way of sweetening food and drinks. It is much lower in the glycemic index compared to other sweeteners such as maple syrup or sugar. The plant itself may be a bit of a bitter aftertaste, so companies have created a very sophisticated white powder.
These purchased powders in the store are concentrated and renovated version of Stevovol's Stevovol glycosides. They are made by treating Stevia GMO micro organisms to create a fine, white stevia powder. Although Stevia has gained popularity as a substitute for sugar, not all brands are the same.
Many contain additives and fillers such as maltodextrin, erythritol, dextrose and other artificial sweeteners. However, some of the brands of liquid stevies, such as a sweet magazine, have quite pure ingredients.
However, stevia is more than just a sweetener. Researchers study Stevia and are compounds for its health benefits. Stevia has been shown to help reduce blood pressure, to promote healthier weight, with insulin supporting and diabetic effects, and is an antioxidant. It has also been studied on its role to antimicrobial and combat Lyme disease. Cup sugar cannot be said the same!
Homemade Stevia extract recipe
Stevia magazines made of natural sweetener that is useful for tea, coffee and bakery products such as cheesecake.

Sterilize a glass jar and lid in boiling water.

If you are using a fresh stevy leaf, fill the jar 2/3 full. If you use a dried stevy leaf, fill the jar 1/2 full.

Pour the selected alcohol over the leaves to fill the jar and place the lid firmly.

Put the grip where you can see it and let it sit for 36 hours, shaking occasionally.

Use a cheesecloth or a fine mesh filter lined with a coffee filter to filter a small saucepan.

Turn the heat low and bring the low boiling. Don't boil as it ruins the taste !!!

Bake for about 20-30 minutes, stirring constantly and make sure not boil. It thickens when the alcohol evaporates. When it reaches the thickness you want, remove the heat.

Store in a small jar in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.
The drop bottles work well in the use of the Stevia extract.

Growing stevia
Stevia goes well in a warm climate where temperatures do not fall below 45 degrees. You can grow your own stevia plant in the summer if you do not live in a tropical environment. Sunny Windowsill also works!
Using fresh vs dried stevia
I often have fresh stevia in my garden and I use it when I make a homemade stevia extract. Dried Stevia magazines also work well, but you need to adjust the recipe. Because dried leaves absorb more moisture from alcohol, you only need to fill the jar 1/2 full. When you use fresh stevia magazines, packing a jar is about 2/3 full. Making your own Stevia extract is more art than science!
Places like Amazon sell powdered Stevia Leaf (no refined white stuff). However, Stevia -powered Stevia is a much harder tolerance, so I prefer to use cut and screened leaves to make the Stevia flavoring agent.

Stevia extract is my sweetener in our house. And by doing it yourself, you avoid a bitter aftertaste. Try it together with these recipes! It is also fine coffee, tea, chai lates or pumpkin beds.
