New ramen spot, plus tax-day New York steak

In Cape Cod food news this week, we have a sneak peek at Chatham’s new noodle shop and the discounted “test kitchen” it is running for local residents through April 6. Also, a fancy lower Cape resort is offering a $30 menu of meals served family-style.
The off-season specials are just the latest in restaurant news for year-round residents: Last week, we wrote about an April 11 blindfolded dinner at Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth and an April 15 Battle of the Wines event at Siena in Mashpee Commons.
This week, we are also reporting winners of the Cape Cod Coffee espresso martini contest and looking at details of an April 15 steakhouse extravaganza.

In Chatham, Namazu Ramen is officially slated to open May 1, but restaurateur and chef Michael Kwon Jacek is inviting Cape Codders to try out the new place this week and save 15% on food. The new restaurant’s specialty, according to its website, is Tokyo-style ramen and specialty cocktails ― some of which are still being finetuned. Jacek owns Ten Yen in Orleans, which is known for its sushi.
Namazu Ramen is open from 4:30 to 9:45 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, with parking available in the back.
Chatham Bars Inn, 297 Shore Road, Chatham, 508-945-0096, chathambarsinn.com
Most of Chatham Bars Inn’s half-dozen restaurants are open to the public (not just guests staying there) but reservations can be hard to come by in the busy summer months. Now, during the off-season, the inn is offering Sunday Supper at its Sacred Cod Tavern and a $65 prix fixe three-course spring menu at its fine dining restaurant STARS.
The $30 per person Sacred Cod Tavern special is open to parties of two or more as it is served family-style in large bowls that guests pass.
The menu changes weekly, with one of the first dinners featuring homemade bread, Caesar salad, mozzarella-stuffed meatballs with bucatini pasta and, for dessert, tiramisu. The family-style menu is available each Sunday in April, except Easter.
The STARS three-course menu also changes weekly and is available Thursdays and Fridays through the end of the month.
Chatham Bars Inn is also featuring a separately priced wine of the week, offering both a red and white selection by the glass or bottle for each meal.
Pro tip: If you are eating at STARS, consider dining early enough to enjoy the spectacular ocean view.
Where to find a winning chocolate espresso martini on Cape Cod
Top honors went to Bucatino Restaurant and Wine Bar in Falmouth for best taste and The Seal in Sandwich for best presentation when Cape Cod Coffee hosted a March 26 competition at its Mashpee facility. Six restaurants, including the Lobster Trap in Bourne and Trevi Cafe & Wine Bar in Mashpee Commons, competed. The event was sold out with local restaurants going for bragging rights on who could make the best espresso martini using Cape Cod Coffee.
Cape Cod Coffee’s next event is Brewery Night, from 6 to 8 p.m. April 17. The gathering offers guests a chance to sample selections from local breweries. Tickets, available through Eventbrite, are $20 plus a $3.18 fee.
